snake workshop

A one day snake workshop in Sussex with George McCarthy. Good weather and lots to see. Male, female and juvenile adders with a brief view of a black adder, male and female slow worms and male and female grass snakes.
Just about a full house.

local owls & grebes

We have a barn owl hunting again over the local fields, being seen regularly now. These images from an early morning trip, poor light and 1600iso, hoping for some better views soon.

Went to Napton reservoir to check on Great Created Grebes, there are two pairs now and displaying occasionally. Very misty through much of the day, will visit again.

Florida

Two weeks in Florida with a small group on a photography trip with George McCarthy. Worked our way from the Miami area to finish near Tampa. Great trip with a great group of people, and plenty of wildlife to see at the many locations we visited. The weather could have been a bit better, down to 46F one day, a day with rain, some fog, but not as bad as they were getting further north in the US at the time.

With the good light and many opportunities there I spent a lot of time practicing my 'birds in flight' photography which I'm always trying to improve on. Unfortunately I somehow managed to take 7000+ images.

Started processing my images but with lots to get through I could be some time.

Otmoor

Spent early morning and again late pm at the 'Great Grey Shrike' site, rest of the day at Otmoor. No sign of the GGS, will have to try again. Better luck at Otmoor, Marsh Harrier active over the roadbeds if a little distant. Also a confused Greylag goose, the ugly duckling?
